I just got word from Sharon Roots that Richard passed away on February 22.
There will be a Celebration of Life for him on 3/12 at 5:30pm at Wildwood Golf Club in Middletown.

Rich was one of the good ones. Aways had a smile on his face always looking for fun and finding humor when it was to be found, He was a good b-ball player. Started form the Bulldogs his Jr and Sr years,As I remember he made the Enquirer Sports page on a special they did about good luck habits. If you remember Dick would aleays kneel down and retie his shoe laces even if they were not loose.Lost contact with Rich after graduation. He recently reached out to re-establish contact but my tardiness in responding has cost me that chance. RIP Rich ,

Rich was indeed one of the good guys. The last I saw Rich was many years ago when we enticed him to come to a Phi Beta Gamma lunch which was centered around a class of '57 to '59 reunion. He will be missed.

Richard was a natural athlete. I remember we went to the DAV in the early 60's to play pool and decided to bowl. Richard bowled a 200 with an alley fingertip ball😳.

My first memory of Dick is in our 7th Grade when many of us went from a small elementary school to that brand new structure at Seymore and Reading Roadl known then as the New Woodward High School.
Not sure my memory is correct, but those of us from Hartwell made a bus transfer at 71st (Seymore Ave) and we joined those students traveling from Carthage. He was outgoing, very likeable and quickly made friends with all. I remember his love of sports and both he and Bill Randolph were best friends and baseball teammates. In my old brain, I will always connect them.
Many, many years later we reconnected by phone and e-mail, around our 40th "Reunion at the Union" and we chatted about classmates, coaches and mutual friends in the Middletown area.
He always talked about coming to one of our many reunions, but to the best of my knowledge never made it?
Although, he always showed interest and talked about getting together..
We were fortunate to have so many great classmates and Dick was certainly one of them.........We lost a good one .........
