Jaffrey Michael Hoodin

Ivan Shapiro has provided us an update on Jeffrey's passing in 1976 and we should encourage all to use this page to communicate what we know about our deceased classmates.

Jeff and I were very close in high school. We remained close until his death, which, if memory serves me, occurred in January 1976. We were living in a suburb near Chicago. Jeff was in sales and staying in another suburb in a hotel or motel. He called me late one night. We talked. The phone dropped. I heard heavy breathing...and then nothing. In those days there was no caller ID and we did not know where he was staying. We kept the phone line open and used our other line to call for help. But where? How? It seemed like hours and then we heard people, presumably in his room, and the phone went dead. We did not know the circumstances with certainty, but suspected a heart attack. Joan and I attended the funeral in Wisconsin. We lost contact with Patty Hoodin after that.

There were many fond memories of good times in high school and what Peter Leeds termed "THE HOODIN HILTON" where we had parties at Jeff's home.

Earlier when I was a surgical intern at the University of Chicago Hospitals, and lived actually in the intern quarters, somehow my roommate and I made room for Jeff. Yes....Jeff stayed with us (can't remember for how long) in the intern quarters. Can't remember why, though.

Later when I was stationed in the army in Alabama he visited us at our home. I sure wish Jeff were here now and that we could visit with him. He is missed.

FYI. I met Patty Hoodin in 1989. She was a realtor with Sibcy Kline in Anderson Township (Cincinnati).

So glad that our Woodward 1959 Site allows us to remember those important relationships that we had 60 years ago and have maintained through the years...I remember Jeff, but not like the personal connection that Ivan describes......

I hope all are safe and healthy while we observe and participate, as best we can, in this historic Chinese Flu that has spread around the globe.
