I remember David well. I don't remember if we went to elementary school together (Roselawn) but I remeber that he was a very smart guy. I believe he always carried a briefcase with him in school.

I also remember David and his briefcase.  His academic achievements both as a student and a professor are concrete evidence of his high intellectual abilities.  RIP!

At first I couldn't remember David Howard but when Bruce mentioned the briefcase he flashed into my mind.  I just remember it seemed as though the briefcase was as big as he was.

I remember David and his briefcase.  Wonder if in more recent years he traded it in for a backpack/book bag?  I was always curious what was in his briefcase.  Seemed to be too big for just our books.  Sorry to hear of the loss of one more class member.

I remember David as everyone else does...with his oversized briefcase ... thick glasses and short stature.  He was always the "thinker"...he was always interested in the issues and the abstract.  David...I'm happy I knew you...Shalom...God Bless

Whatever David carried in that briefcase, served him well. Here's a full acount of his formidable accomplishments

...coolMY BREATH IS ALWAYS TAKEN AWAY WHEN I SEE ANOTHER ALERT TO THIS COLUMN OF SADNESS.  AND THEN THE BIG SHOCK WHEN I SEE WHO HAS PASSED ON.  MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS ABOUT HOW MANY TIMES RAY BORTZ  AND I EXPRESSED OUR CONCERN THAT DAVID DRESSLER NEVER REGISTERED IN OUR WEBSITE  AND COULDN'T BE FOUND. SOME OF THOSE CONCERNS ARE QUESTIONS THAT NOW MAY BE ANSWERED -- HE WAS A PRIVATE PERSON - I.E., HIS PRIVATE BRIEFCASE THAT EVEN NOW, 55 YEARS LATER, CLASSMATES STILL WONDER ABOUT.  NO DOUBT IT JUST CONTAINED SCHOOL PAPERS AND BOOKS; BUT LET'S ADMIT, IT MADE DAVID LOOK "EXTINGUISHED" AND UNIQUE, SMART AS HE WAS.  MAYBE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WILL COMMENT ABOUT A MARRIAGE? A FAMILY? OR JUST A FABULOUS CAREER...CONGRATULATIONS LITTLE GUY -- YOU DID BIG THINGS....broken heart

MORE...FATHER WAS CHARLES DRESSLER FROM NEW YORK CITY; MOTHER WAS GERTRUDE STEIN OF KENTUCKY.  CITATIONS BY SHERM ARE IN GOOGLE BUT NOT EASY TO FIND. ONE BIG ARTICLE UNDER OBITUARY HAS A GOOD PICTURE OF DAVE (POTTER).

EMAIL FROM COLLEAGUE HUNT POTTER WROTE YESTERDAY THAT DAVE NEVER MARRIED  NEVER HAD ANY CHILDREN, IS BURIED IN ENGLAND WHERE HE SPENT ALMOST LAST 10 YRS OF HIS LIFE, AND CAUSE OF DEATH WAS SEVERAL YEARS OF STAGE 4 COLON CANCER. 2/3/15

GOD BLESS YOU DAVE.  I AM PLEASED THAT YOU ARE SO WELL REMEMBERED, ESPECIALLY BY YOUR BRIEFCASE.  THANK YOU SHERMAN FOR FINDING DAVE; I SURE COULD NOT, NOR COULD ANYONE IN THE WOODWARD HS STAFF FIND HIM.
