Carla Storm called me this morning to let me know Larry Cornett passed away on May 26, 2016. He suffered a stroke on May 21, 2016. Larry’s daughter Sherri told Carla how much it meant to Larry to be able to come to the 50th reunion. She said that Larry placed everything he had from the reunion in a chest. After Larry passed Serri found a letter that Carla had written Larry after the reunion so she was able to contact Larry.

So glad that we got Larry, or Moose as we knew him in the locker room, to attend our 50th Reunion. Through Carla Storm Harness and the Search Team we found him in a small town in Georgia (Pitts) where everybody knew him.

He was a kind giant and took me under his giant wing in the eighth grade and we remained close until he departed for the US Air Force.

My first car was not the greatest…………his 50 Mercury with no 2nd gear……….hey it was only a $50 investment and it got me around for a year or so. Thanks to Larry !

Larry RIP you were a unique and special friend!

I always have mixed feelings as we learn about the passing of one of our classmates.  I am glad for the knowledge, but sad that it happened to yet another one of leaving creating a smaller and smaller cadre of the Class of 1959.  Sigh!

Peace be with you one and all.

So sorry to hear about Larry passing.  Moose was a good friend, a good footballer and basketball player.  A lot of what was accomplished on the gridiron was due to Moose blocking on the right side and Steve Clause (RIP Steve) blocking on the left. At the last reunion Moose told me the story about being raised in Pitts as a youngster prior to coming to Cincy, which is why he returned there after the service.  He and Jim Braunstein(RIP JIM) enlisted together and Moose said that after they arrived at basic training he never saw Jim again and still felt bad about that when we were talking.  I know he had really bad diabetes and had to leave the reunion due to a reaction of some kind.  RIP Moose you were a good friend and had my back on the football field.

SO SORRY TO HEAR LARRY HAS PASSED ON.  WE SAW HIM AT THE 50TH AND HE SURE DIDN'T LOOKANY DIFFERENT THAN HE DID IN HIGH SCHOOL. PROBABLY NOBODY WILL FORGET LARRY - HIS SPECIAL LOOK AND LARGE FRAME.  HE PASSED JUST AFTER RAY BORTZ, THE SHORTEST BOY IN OUR CLASS. THANKS, SHERRI, FOR LETTING US KNOW ABOUT YOUR DAD AND THANKS CARLA FOR PASSIING THE INFORMATION TO US.  THE THING I REMEMBERED ABOUT LARRY IS HIS ASKING TO LET HIM SEE MY TEST ANSWERS OVER MY SHOULDER!. Thanks Carla for staying in touch and being the sweet memory for our class.I remember Larry-Moose- because he used to tease me about making him "feel tall" when we talked with each other.
