 Update Reunion Booklet and Reunion Pictures

While memories of our Woodward Class of 1959 Reunion fades some of you have sent E-mails asking about when those memories will be rekindled with the professional photos from Reunion Weekend. We have not been able to verify a specific date, but anticipate sometime after the first of the year. All attendees at Moonlite will get a Reunion Booklet. A couple of sample pages are posted below and information on Photographers for information and ordering.

Bill Hyatt just sent in some great Reunion Weekend PICS  that he posted on Shutterfly. All should be able to view at:

We will discuss and work on getting a page where all can share their pictures and thoughts of Reunion Weekend.

The Steering Committee will meet on October 26th to "Wrap Up" the Reunion.

 

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Reunion Countdown Clock ticked to Zero and what a Reunion Weekend we had ! Lots of E-mail and communication have come our way since September 12th. Someone named it appropriately a "Magical Moonlit Night at Moonlite Gardens." The Steering Committee greatly appreciated all of the "thank you notes."

We will redesign the Web Site over the next few months and try and preserve our reunion zeal, but gear it for memories, announcements and an archive of the Class. We will have a Steering Committee Wrap Up Meeting in late October and try to get some pictures of the 50th on the Site. Here is one from Carla Storm Harness's Camera.

 Reunion Countdown

Tuesday, September 8th, Our Countdown Clock Ticks Louder………………Check it out ! Just a little more than 4 Days and we will be celebrating in grand style at Moonlite Gardens.

Your Steering Committee met on Tuesday, September 1st at Jill Lankford Feledy’s home working out last minute details. We look forward to greeting all.

If you have not, we suggest you check out the Menu on 50th Reunion Tab....It really looks scrumptious!

A “Great Plan” is coming together…………Most of you have  confirmed your plans with our Treasurer, Dave Lepof, and our Website Classmate Headcount is now at 157.  We sent out a reminder e-mail yesterday to those we thought were coming, but as of yet they had not verified it with a confirmation/payment.

With spouses and guests we project some 260 participants and are eager to verify all head counts for each event over the Class of 1959’s Reunion Weekend.  We posted information on each event on the Page Reunion Weekend.

Some Reminders & Updates:

Ø  The Millennium Hotel Brunch is now scheduled for 9:00 AM due to early flight plans and to avoid some of the 1:00 PM Bengal game traffic.  The Brunch is in the "Bisro on Elm."

Ø  Jerry Horwitz and Pete Leeds encourage all golfers (the good, the bad, and the ugly) to plan to join them at the Ridge Country Club on Friday……… Tee Off 10:00 AM.

Ø  Allen (Dick) Brown now has enough participants to guarantee bus transportation to all events. The schedule is up and we hope it accommodates all.

Ø  As of today, the Search Team has us down to 21 (less than 5% of the Class). Five with questionable addresses and sixteen with no information. The List is posted on the Reunion Weekend Page.

Ø  The results of the Greeter’s Ice Cream Survey is  on the Site……..   

    • Martha Meyer Nall had predicted the outcome and it is posted on Reunion Weekend Page and has been used to balance the order to Graeters.  

ü  Gary Thornton is working on a Reunion Booklet (pictures from Reunion Weekend) that will be mailed to all who come and will also invite/offer the entire Class to submit pictures. Those who did not attend can purchase the Book following the Reunion.(Gary will advise the price for printing and mailing.

Reunion Countdown

 

Many have asked to get Reunion Pictures on the Site and we have started with the Moonlite Photo above and will try to put in a few each week in chronological order of Reunion Weekend. We start with the Golf Outing at Ridge Country Club. It was a great day for golf and camaraderie that started with this group between 1953 -1959 and continues in 2009.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Class of ’59 to Celebrate 50 Years
 
As the class that opened the new Woodward High School as seventh graders, the class became the first class to graduate after completing six years at the new building. We are planning a special 50 year reunion weekend September 11-13, 2009 with the main function at Coney Island’s Moonlight Gardens, a memorable place from our teenage years.
The weekend will kickoff with a golf outing on Friday, followed by a casual reception in the evening. Saturday will be open for tours of the city during the day for those from out of town, while the evening will bring the big night at Moonlight Gardens, complete with food, a live band and renewed friendships.
The weekend will finish with a Sunday brunch. The reunion team is hard at work planning a great event and locating all the classmates. Please check our terrific website for updated information and to create your class profile at www.woodward59.com .

All announcement s are listed in reverse (last, first) chronological order and as of now none have been removed.

Update Summer End 2008

As the summer of 2008 comes to an end, we should be encouraged that the Woodward59 Site is beginning to get some of the Class to update their profiles. We are hoping it will grow virally in this wonderful age of information technology.  If each of us reaches five Classmates and we get a multiplier effect by those we contact the viral growth effect will work.

All of us in the Woodward Class of 1959 have an opportunity to use the Site to update our profiles and, if we choose, to put a little of our 50 year biography with some photos.  It will be interesting to see what we have archived by the Reunion on September 12, 2009. It is fascinating that we can do this at virtually no cost other than our investment in a little personal time.

The Steering Committee will be meeting in the next month or so and will begin to take some next steps to organize the Event and the Site. We have a temporary hold on both Maketehwah and Moonlight Gardens for Saturday, September 12, 2009.

We hope as you update your profile that you visit the Survey for Location and get your thoughts recorded. We have not done any real financial analysis and as we proceed that will also be surveyed.

Stay tuned and we will try and do some type of periodic updates.

On November 14th, we will have our 2nd Official Steering Committee Meeting for organizing the 50th Reunion for the Woodward Class of 1959. Brenda Walker Behrle is hosting the meeting and we set out with some key objectives:

·         Finalize Location

·         Find & Engage the Class

·         Set Up Good Committee Structure

·         Have Some Fun in Organizing

We welcome input from all and hope that you are spreading the word.

 It is Sunday, August 24, 2009, and we have started the process to give the Woodward Class of 1959 a Web Site that will allow us to visit and get the latest information about our Class and the 50th Reunion on September 12, 2009.

As we review the options that we have from this Site. It looks like we have a lot of flexibility and some interesting opportunities. Like all that we do in life, it will be up to us to make it work best for us.

We will need to get some photo and graphics up to make our Site interesting. Does anybody have some photos from previous reunions?
